What happens to your skin if you clean your face with oil?
Posted by Hanna Savioja onThe popularity of skin care oils is growing again, and for good reason. The skin oil with a high-quality and correct fat profile is multi-purpose due to its simple functionality and can be easily combined with other products.
Facial cleansing is traditionally thought to be done with a foaming, emulsifying or milky product. But what happens to the skin when you clean it with only oil ? Why is skin cleansing with oil worth it?
Here are a few things to consider when choosing a cleaning oil
Choose organic cold-pressed oil . It best has all the nutrients left and does not contain chemical residues from other extraction processes.
Choose the right oil for your skin. A good rule of thumb is to choose an oil that is light and does not support the skin. There are different skin types and for some heavier oils such as coconut oil/cocoa butter based oils and cleansing pads work as a good skin cleanser and for some they cause blockages and pimples. In oil mixtures, the biggest factor is the ratio of the oil and the interaction.
If you have sensitive skin or a nose, think about whether the cleaning product should have a fragrance or whether it would be good to reduce the perfume load at this point.
Contrary to what is often thought, oil cleansing is also excellent for oily skin. Oil dissolves fat and impurities in it and is therefore an effective way to remove impurities from the skin. If you remove all of your own fat from oily skin, it will be stimulated to produce more of it. If the surface of the skin dries out due to a strong cleansing product, sebum gets stuck under the skin and blockages and pimples occur more easily.
What are the benefits of cleaning with oil?
- Oil cleansing is gentle on the skin but effective. The skin does not lose its moisture mantle, but the oil "lifts" and dissolves excess dirt bound to fat from the face, takes it with it and leaves the skin glowing without drying it out.
- Suitable for everyone. Oil cleansing is suitable for all ages and different skin types, always for cleaning sensitive, combination, dry and oily skin. Calendula+Oat care oil is completely fragrance-free and preservative-free and is therefore also suitable for sensitive skin and atopics.
- Balances the symptoms of problem skin
The skin tends to produce what is lacking. That is, if you often wash the skin off its own oils, the skin will produce more of it. At the same time, it can also happen that the surface of the skin dries out and closes the pores, in which case the secreted sebum causes blockages, pimples and even longer-lasting infections under the surface. That's why oil cleansing also works well in the treatment of acne skin and oily skin.
- Removes make-up effectively
The treatment oil easily removes even the most stubborn makeup from the face. Even waterproof mascara easily comes off the lashes without harsh scrubbing. In addition, the oil cares for eyelashes and the delicate skin around the eyes.
- Anti-aging effects:
Cold-pressed vegetable oils contain antioxidants that aging skin craves and help reduce free radicals that cause skin aging. Kolme Cosmetics' own treatment oil has also cold-extracted herbal marigold, which contains a wide range of plant nutrients useful for the skin.
Kolme Cosmetics Treatment Oil Calendula + Oats is a completely fragrance-free and preservative-free multipurpose oil that is also excellent for cleaning the skin.
This oil has a light and cold-pressed thistle oil as a base oil, which together with domestic cold-pressed oat oil makes this an oil blend that moisturizes and cares for the skin. Calendula, which has been grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in our own utility garden, has also been extracted into thistle oil. The treatment oil is in an easy-to-use aluminum pump bottle that protects the cold-pressed precious oils from light.
Tips for cleansing the skin with oil:
- Always add Treatment Oil to dry skin. Don't wet your face first, because then the cleansing oil won't stick to the dirt as well as a tap, but may remain on the skin.
- Always use a clean face sponge or washcloth to wipe off excess oil.
- Give your face a light massage while massaging the oil into your face. It helps to stimulate blood circulation in the skin.
- You can also wet and steam the face cloth and leave it on the face for a while before wiping off the oil. Warm steam opens the pores and enhances cleaning (removes blackheads effectively).
- Oil cleansing together with facial soap brings extra cleansing power to skin cleansing. You can find instructions for double cleaning in this blog post.
